The new app has been launched in response to internal claims data that shows that more than one-in-three motorists fail to capture the requisite data needed to make a claim.

The tool provides step by step guidance through safety precautions at the roadside, and prompts users to capture key information, including witness and accident information. There is also an option to take photos and capture precise locational data via GPS, which alongside the other details, can then be emailed to an address of the user's choice.

Mark Christer, managing director for More Th>n, says: "A car accident is a traumatic experience and it's easy for drivers to forget what information they need to gather from the scene. It's a time when people really look to their insurer to provide support."

The application is available for free from the Apple App store and is not exclusive to More Th>n customers - allowing users to input different insurer details.

Nice application and nice to see an insurer embracing the possibilities of mobile devices.  It might be interesting to profile those customers with the forethought to download it before they actually need it!

I also wonder how many will think to download it 'on-the-spot' ...
