BNY ConvergEx has appointed industry veteran Thomas Carroll as executive managing director and chief technology officer (CTO).
Carroll will have global responsibility for the technical infrastructure, software development and business processes of ConvergEx and for directing company resources to support product development and innovation.
BNY ConvergEx was formed in 2006 through the combination of individual Bank of New York securities business units with order management systems vendor Eze Castle Software. Headquartered in New York, it offers institutional clients liquidity and execution management, investment technologies and intermediary and clearing services.
Before joining ConvergEx, Carroll served as a managing director and global head of eMarkets and client connectivity for HSBC Bank USA, where he reported to the CIO of the investment banking unit.
He was responsible for the design and development of HSBC's global fixed income electronic trading platform and Cross-Asset FIX connectivity application.
Previously he held similar positions with Fidelity Investments, Lehman Brothers in New York, London and Tokyo as well as Salomon Brothers in Tokyo.
Joseph Velli, chairman and CEO, BNY ConvergEx Group, says: "We are extremely pleased to have a person of Tom's caliber and extensive experience in the development of trading technology take on a leadership role that is essential to maintaining a strong ConvergEx franchise."
