Union Bank of Taiwan is to be the first bank in the world to issue contactless cards under the J/Speedy programme developed by Japanese card issuer JCB.
J/Speedy is a global standard-based (ISO/IEC 14443) programme, developed by sharing Visa Asia Pacific's contactless specification for common merchant acceptance.
Yuichi Momose, president and general manager of JCBI (Taiwan), comments: "I believe contactless payment is the key for shaping a new era in payments, and JCB is proud to take this first step toward that new era."
The tap-and-go card is to be issued by Union bank of Taiwan in association with the Breeze Center shopping mall.
