By implmenting its Thomson One Investment Banking product, Daiwa Securities SMBC will introduce a consolidated database and operating environment and improve efficiency, says the vendor.

Commenting on the deployment, Teruaki Ueda, MD of Daiwa Securities SMBC, head of investment banking, says: "It was important to find ways to minimise the amount of 'mechanical' processing activity our staff are required to perform, allowing them to focus on developing proposals and other activities that can truly add value and enhance the competitiveness of our business.

"By introducing Thomson One, with its standardised workflow and full range of consulting features, we expect that we will be able to achieve our goals more quickly."

The vendor is also releasing two products from its One suite that have been configured for the Japanese market - Thomson One Investment Management Japan and Thomson One Investment Banking Japan.

Each application features a Japanese language user interface and is configured to meet the needs of the Japanese investment banking community.

A 'one-click' translation functionality enables users to access the necessary information rapidly in both Japanese and English. The system also feature an advanced search function using the new Tokyo Stock Exchange sector classifications.
