Thomson Financial has appointed Instinet's Mark Howarth as managing director of Asia Pacific operations.
Howarth spent nine years at Instinet where he held a number of senior positions, most recently as managing director, Asia-ex-Japan.
He was responsible for Instinet's overall business strategy and execution in the Asia market, as well as for all the strategic marketing planning and business development activites in the region.
Prior to Instinet Howarth spent three years at Merrill Lynch in London, as vice president, capital markets, where he was responsible for all aspects of technology integration to support new business ventures in the equity and derivatives markets.
In his new role, Howarth will be based in Hong Kong and will drive the strategy and implementation of Thomson Financial's activities to develop and sell financial information and technology to clients in the Asia Pacific region.
He will report to Donal Smith, president, Europe and Asia, Thomson Financial.
