I-flex says the bank will install its Flexcube platform in Ireland and the UK in order to implement a common IT operating model for retail banking. The bank already uses the Flexcube technology for its wholesale banking operations.

AIB says the technology will provide a new streamlined and efficient method of handling customer data.

Maura McEvilly, head of enterprise core retail banking, AIB, says the implementation will "further develop our operational effectiveness".

"This will deliver enhanced services to our customers and help us grow and develop our business," says McEvilly.

The retail transformation project is expected to be completed within the next three and a half years, says AIB.
