JPMorgan Chase has contracted with Verifone for the supply of the vendor's PIN-based validation terminals, which it will use to verify customers at its branch counters.
Verifone says a pilot deployment will begin in December and run for three months.
Upon successful completion, JPMorgan is expected to deploy the terminals to across 11,500 teller stations in branch locations.
The systems, which will be integrated with the bank's branch teller workstations, will validate a customer's identity using secure personal information number technology.
The vendor says the PED-compliant hand-held terminals support 3DES encryption, master/session or DUKPT key management methods, and message authentication code (MAC) systems.
