Chile's Banco Credito Inversiones (BCI) is implementing BEA Systems' WebLogic Platform to unify its banking and investment portal for business and retail customers.
The new system will comprise of BEA's Tuxedo product for transaction processing, WebLogic Integration system for centralised application integration and development, and the J2EE-compliant BEA WebLogic Server.
The vendor says the scalable infrastructure "facilitates simplified integration with back-office systems to extend the lifecycle of older assets".
Danilo Gonzalez, chief architect, BCI, says: "We're able to change business processes in real-time as market conditions require. And we have the ability to reuse a lot of our code, which makes application development faster, less risky and less expensive."
"BEA aggressively supports open standards. That helps protect our investment against obsolescence, and it can give us the freedom to roll out Web services and adopt technologies that may help our business in the future," he adds.
BEA says its WebLogic platform was chosen over IBM's WebSphere technology.
