Euronext.Liffe simplifies application build with BEA

Eueropean derivatives exchange Euronext.Liffe has selected BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 and BEA Services to provide the application infrastructure for its trading support systems.

Euronext.liffe says the decision to move to the BEA platform follows an extensive evaluation of all the major J2EE players. The new architecture is expected to simplify the overall application infrastructure, providing faster time to market for new products and services.

The exchange plans to use BEA Weblogic Workshop to optimise its return from J2EE, WebLogic Portal as the user interface, and WebLogic Integration to develop and manage business processes.

The first project is scheduled to be an integration project to develop a central configuration database from which all sub-systems receive their information on who can trade, and how the products behave.

Euronext.liffe also selected BEA Services to provide consulting, education and support throughout the project lifecycle. This includes the development of the architecture and implementation of a new software engineering and delivery process. In addition, a tailored skills transfer programme has been created in order to speed the exchange to self-sufficiency.
