The technology will support the bank's new online payables and receivables service, ANZ WebLink, which enables corporate customers to deliver payments directly from a host-to-host system or manually via a thin-client browser.

The service will enable clients to send bulk payments, remittance advices and cheques, receive information on returned items and statement information on nominated accounts.

The corporate2bank platform is based on technology developed by Australia-based Sienna Technologies, which was acquired by Clear2Pay in 2004. Clear2Pay says the system reduces operational silos and manual processing while increasing straight-through processing.

Commenting on the implementation, Guy Whitcher, head, cash management & transaction services, ANZ Bank, says: "Flexibility was a main internal driver behind this choice, as well as the need to decrease both the level of manual intervention in the payment chain as well as our reliance on legacy systems."
