The ECM system is based on Open Text's LiveLink Web Content Management Server which enables in-house content authoring.

The bank says the project is part a move from a "hard-copy" culture to an environment where all product and procedural data is available on a single, Web-based consolidated network.

Peter Greenfield, online channels manager at Abbey, says the ECM system allows staff to manage policy and procedures by recording the lifecycle of every piece of information.

"Open Text has enabled us to have a single, coherent information system that serves both as a communications tool and real-time reference library, adhering to the necessary regulatory requirements," he adds.

The vendor says it moved 100,000 pages of Abbey's technical manuals online in just three months. The automated ECM also includes an audit trail facility that allows staff to access product specifications for the last five years.
