PBS says its is currently analysing the cause of the fault, which occured during the annual upgrade of its digital ID certificates.

Dainis Krastins, CIO at PBS, says the fault was finally fixed at 12 noon on Monday and all retailers can now use the network to process payments.

Separately, PBS has launched an electronic invoicing system which enables businesses to comply with national public sector invoicing requirements. The service, called e-invoice easy, is based on the OIOXML format.

Companies can choose to implement and use the system independently or sign up to PBS' hosted service. Lars Fruergaard, deputy MD, PBS, says: "We will introduce a new service whereby companies simply submit all their customer invoices directly to us electronically. Then we take care of forwarding the invoices to the recipient, either electronically or in written format."
