OneVu turns to Web simulation to promote EBPP service to banks and billers

OneVu, the electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) service set up by Voca and CheckFree last year, is using Web site simulation technology from VeriSIM in a bid to persuade more banks and billers to sign up to the scheme.

The new service is based on CheckFree's EBPP technology and will enable UK consumers to view, track and pay bills within their usual online banking service.

VeriSIM says its live simulation of the service provides OneVu with a sales demonstration to illustrate to banks and billing organisations how the service will operate both generally and in terms of their own customer's experience.

So far just Lloyds TSB and HSBC have signed up to the EBPP service. Martin Kearsley, chief executive at OneVu, told Finextra that a further three high street banks will be siging up to the service soon, although the new additions do not include the remaining two of the 'big four' banks in the UK.

Commenting on the EBPP service, Kearsley says: "With a sophisticated and rapidly growing population of online bank users seeking new innovative services while 'at the bank', a natural extension seems to be the ability to see bills as well as pay them."

A pilot of the scheme is expected to go live at the end of Februrary and will involve Lloyds TSB and HSBC along with one billing organisation. Kearsley says more billers will be added to the service over the course of the year and he expects 15 billing firms to be participating in the scheme by the end of 2005.
