Sainsbury's Bank encourages prospects with Web simulation

Building on a 600% increase in online banking visitors over the last three years, the consumer banking arm of UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's has launched a dedicated customer practise Web site simulation from VeriSIM.

Part of the recently relaunched Sainsbury's Bank Web site, the simulation allows customers to practise banking online without having to use their own money or bank accounts. The service has been introduced by Sainsbury's in expectation of a significant increase in the number of financial services products purchased via the Web over the next 12 months.

Derek Bottom, deputy chief executive of Sainsbury's Bank, says: "Our online banking strategy focuses around offering customers great value products in a jargon-free and customer friendly environment. The simulation allows us to help our customers experience just how simple online banking actually is."

The simulation is also being used to train online banking helpdesk employees at Sainsbury's.

VeriSIM's other banking clients include HBOS, IF, HSBC, Dunfermline Building Society, Tesco Personal Finance, and Bank of Scotland.
