BPN will use the TietoEnator technology to upgrade its core banking system and online services. The new system will replace its existing customer, deposit, loan and corporate account management applications.

The bank will also replace its current online banking infrastructure with TietoEnator's Finance Portal system.

Datacomp, TietoEnator's new distributor in the Iberian market, will deliver the software as well as provide integration services.

Commenting on te deal with TietoEnator, José de Oliveira Costa, president, Banco Português de Negócios, says: "We believe that this partnership will help us optimise our productivity ratios and attain a better profiling of our customers."

The bank is expected to go live with the TietoEnator systems during 2007.

Although the initial order value has no material financial impact for TietoEnator as a whole, the deal represents a step towards opening business opportunities with an important customer and partner in a new market.
