Lava Trading filed its original suit against royalblue in June this year, alleging infringement of its consolidated trading technology patent that allows for the aggregation of ECN books in a montage window.

The amendment extends the suit to include claims of unfair trading practices on the part of royalblue, in particular in relation to the pricing of products and associated services.

In a statement, royalblue says it has been advised by its lawyers that amendments of this nature are not uncommon in patent infringement cases.

States the company: "As with the original patent infringement claim, royalblue will be defending it vigorously."
