Grindlays Qatar Bank has implemented Misys Retail Banking Systems' core banking package, Equation, at its Doha operation.
Equation was implemented in eight months, despite a six week interruption due to the war in Iraq, and replaces an IT infrastructure supported by previous shareholder Standard Chartered Bank.
The product is currently used to deliver customer relationship management and trade finance services, as well as loan application processing.
GQB says Misys' strong local support infrastructure was a deciding factor in licensing the Equation system. Ian Murray, general manager, GQB, says the Equation suite is already used by five other banks in Qatar and Misys maintains an office in Dubai with over 35 staff.
The bank is currently working with Misys to develop electronic delivery services.
