A Spanish man adder bit of a shock when he tried to withdraw some cash from his local ATM, with the machine dispensing a snake alongside his euros.

The man was confronted at a Caja Madrid bank branch in Llodio, Spain, by the snake, which had apparently become trapped by the bank note ejection mechanism.

After poking it with a stick, the bank's manager and a police officer eventually managed to free the animal and it was taken to a shelter.
