Interesting idea, but what's more interesting is that it is yet another example of the silent rise of the pre-paid card.  It is spawning a tide of small but novel innovations. 

What is the problem that's being solved here?  The user still has to hold a phone somewhere nead another device as part of a payment transaction. 

What's interesting is that firms are converging onto very similar solutions.  

It could be because they have found how their customers want to interact.  On the other hand it could be because the same people go to the same conferences and flip between companies' design teams.

This could the hypothesis for an intersting PhD thesis in a couple of years.
