I am behind using technology all the way. But remember the human interface. Getting an SMS each time I use my credit card is going to really bug me … and it will be that critical one fraudulent transaction that I will overlook.

Poor Galileo aside (and I am a lifelong amateur astronomer), I can easily forgive Tim for this slip. But I really have a problem with the word “esoteric”.
“Esoteric”, using a number of different dictionaries means either;
All of these smack of wizardry at best and chicanery at worst. If hedge funds are so complicated that only the “select few” can understand them then they frankly don’t belong in the world of finance. So perhaps the astrology connection is correct, and we should be worrying about which star signs IPO’s take place under or what date to announce quarterly results on.

My sympathies Paul. Isn’t it amazing how banks always seem to get it right with this immediate debit thing while the corresponding credit never ever works the same way? That part of the transaction always goes on a “Cook's Tour” of the banking world’s superhighways. Imagine if the poor credit could speak what an amazing tale it would tell. And to add insult to injury this happens virtually everywhere from Albania to Zanzibar.
