Curious departure for a bank's innovation lab. Not sure if we should applaud their pursuit of the application of each innovation, even if heading well off brief for a bank. 

Interested to hear how far other bank innovation labs push their brief out beyond financial services?

First disintermediation. Then simply disruption. Most recently, collaboration. Now, consolidation.

Another phase in the evolution of fintech. 

Blockchain will fix famine, solve world peace, cure diseases obvs - but not sure if even Blockchain can fix Facebook.

This is a good initiative. The general % of data smart / data aware people is way too low in most non-tech organizations. It is one blocker on digital transformation that slows progress and limits potential.

I think it is a bold move. And a good one.

While many in the brand business are self-important fashionistas, Pentagram are definitely a class act, delivering many really solid brand marks, over many, many years.

As a side note, I'm surprised how many businesses still persist with logo/brand executions, that are utterly unsuitable for today's digital world.

I think the point here is that a CEO of a global bank has said it. Rather than the CEO of a tech company or a fintech.

No-one expects all the incumbent banks to disappear but only a few years ago no senior exec at a major bank would have said these words out loud.

Now we have seen CEOs at BBVA, JPMorgan and others all make similar statements around the imperative for reinvention and the existential threats banks face. This recognition is a healthy sign for banks. 

Agreed. 10/10 for creativity.
