Nothing to be unhappy about here. As Pherrell Williams says (ahem) "It might seem crazy, but here comes some news, talking this and that. Give me all you’ve got, and don't hold back. … Because I am API…Clap along if you feel like API-ness is the truth”.

Good Luck. Perhaps its time for more innovation around kids banking. How about a new start-up, called "Teddy-Pay"?!

Perhaps the battle for customer acquisition and retention in retail banking has entered a new phase?
Something similar happened to a US tourist in a London book shop in October 2014. But Borders managed to turn it into positive publicity, with promotions for "evening lock-ins". Go on, Metro. Lets see how good is your PR!

Nice article Tim. But beware the cause-effect fallacy. Is it possible that countries with a rising GDP created Real Time Payments infrastructure because they had growing economy (and not the other way around)? Burt regardless of whether it is a cause or an effect, RTP looks like a pretty logical argument to me.

Agreed. What problems does it solve? How does it make life simpler and better?
If you look back at the last 15 years or so of failed consumer payments initiatives, how many passed the simple, simplicity test?

I'm surprised no-one picked up on Mary Carol's earlier career experience - is it a complete co-incidence that Apple Pay have recruited someone with unique Papal expertise!

Thanks for the comment Chris. Perhaps we should look beyond phones and batteries - I just came across an ad for Jawbone UP. I'm guessing that the UP wrist band band has a longer battery life than my soggy iPhone. And an evolution of this wearable will be just as good as a payments ID. So no excuses in the bar after the 5-a-side.
