I find surveys of 4,000 people, out of a total adult population of 38 million, hard to believe. A cross section of society across 43 counties, ten major cities and hundreds of towns is not possible with that number of respondants.

Whilst YZi is pronounced 'easy' in American English, it is pronounced 'Why, Zeed, Eye' in British English. The British English is nowhere near as catchy.

Would someone please explain the difference between VADDs - Variable Amount Direct Debit - and VARPs - Variable Amount Recurring Payments. I have been paying my electricity, gas, water, council tax, etc., by VADDs for at least 40 years and they work perfectly.

I am at a loss to understand why the limit is being removed. It means that if my card is stolen a thief has the ability to use it for large purchases without any proof of identity. This is madness.

The US is one of the most diverse nations on earth, with a huge variety of people from all cultures, ethnicity and religions. It does not need a legal framework for diversity. The UK is not multi-cultural or diverse, because many ethnic groups have stuck together and have not integrated. In the US it is a requirement to learn English and/or Spanish to communicate. In the UK there is no such requirement and, as a result, their are large Asian communities where English is not spoken or even understood. There are also similar problems to this in Germany and France.

Far too small a sample from more than 40 million adults in the UK. Suggest that the writers read the book - How to lie with statistics by Darrell Huff.

I find these numbers staggering since I know no-one who uses their phone for banking. The reasons are not just security. Having the phone stolen is a real threat as well as the propect of the phone being damaged or destroyed. All of my friends and business coleagues use their home or work computer to interact with their bank and use cards to pay for items when shopping. This is not to say that people do not use ther phones to pay for things or contact their bank account, but the numbers are unbelievable.

In the UK Variable Amount Direct Debits have been around for 50 years or more, with a guarantee from banks to resolve any issues. What is new about Pay By Bank?
