Queen Bee syndrome

Research from the University of Toronto has shown that women prefer to have a male boss. Stress levels increased when women employees had a female boss, as did depression, insomnia and headaches. The explanation given was that successful women find other women to be competition – and also that females see leadership as a male role. At womenintechnology.co.uk we also found that many women had had more support from male bosses than unsympathetic female colleagues. What happened to female solidarity?! It’s important that women in the workforce stick together as that’s the only way that we’ll make real progress towards total equality.
