Beware - the fact that you’re reading this post could signal that you have an illness. Do you spend six hours a day online? Do you live in front of your computer screen? Then you may be suffering from internet addiction, and apparently it’s no joking matter. China might become the first country to classify this as a clinical disorder and is planning to register the condition with the World Health Organisation. Estimates say that about 10% of young Chinese internet users are addicted - and about 70% of those are male. The good news is that there is a good success rate when it comes to curing the addiction. Technologists should be safe though – spending all day in chat rooms and playing violent games are often the ‘symptoms’, so you don’t need to visit ‘Internet Anonymous’ just yet.
