Sarkozy isn't the only recent high profile victim of fraudsters. Des O'Connor - British chat show host and famously bad singer - was taken for around £1000 by a shop assistant who used his mobile phone to record the entertainer's card details.
After recording the details of Des and many others, Olanrewaju Apalara went online and registered the cards under false names before ordering a bunch of expensive stuff he then sold on eBay.
Apparently Apalara got a bit cocky after a while and began using "Killer Fraud" as his account name when placing orders.
He stole around £170,000 and was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in jail.
More in the Telegraph.
