It has emerged that personal information belonging to thousand's of council tax payers has been found on a computer that was sold on eBay for just £6.99.
According to a Daily Mail report, thousands of account numbers and sort codes, as well as names and addresses, were stored on the hard drive, which was owned by Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire.
Data on the hard drive dates from 2002 to July 2008, says the paper.
The news follows yesterday's report that the financial banking data of a million UK customers has been found on a computer sold on eBay for £35.88.
