A recent survey by the CBI employer’s organisation has found that there is a distinct lack of graduates in science, technology, engineering and maths (or stem) subjects. Almost half of organisations across all sectors are facing difficulties in trying to find staff skilled in these areas, which is leading to employers looking overseas to find the talent they need. This is just more evidence that it’s more vital than ever for companies to be able to effectively attract and retain staff in the IT world. We need to encourage more young people, especially women, into technical roles and educate them about the many opportunities that studying stem subjects can bring.
