Fantastic proposition but waht provisions are there for verifying that the documents being supplied are the originals and are not fakes? Is the passport number looked up and validated? Is the driving licence validated with teh DVLA? If so then this is KYC for the digital age.

H Sian, the Jumio Netverify service checks lots of ID doc security features such as hologram, font/font size & positioning, microprint (that's the pretty pictures of flora & fauna in the background), checksums in the long document numbers at the bottom, compares to lists of known forgeries and compares the customer's face in the device camera with the face image in the document. So lots of security provision, and enough of a deterrent to send fraudsters to sites not using this kind of technology.
