Mastercard's Sonya Geelon appointed chief commercial officer at Conferma Pay

Global virtual payments provider Conferma Pay has appointed Sonya Geelon, formerly of Mastercard, as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

With 25 years of experience in the payments industry, Sonya joins Conferma Pay from her previous role as Senior Vice President UK & Ireland and Country Manager Ireland for Mastercard.

Sonya will be tasked with further developing Conferma Pay’s customer-centric approach to ensure that its leading virtual payments platform continues to evolve alongside the needs of the industry.

Additionally, Sonya will play a crucial role in deepening and expanding Conferma Pay’s existing partnerships with banks, payment schemes and technology platforms, as well as with organisations in the travel sector. This will allow the company to expand its unrivalled payments ecosystem and enable even greater accessibility of virtual card payments.

Alongside his appointment of Sonya, Jason has finalised the rest of his Senior Leadership Team with appointment of Stuart Davenport as Chief Product Officer, Andy Mathews as Chief Financial Officer, David Wood as Chief Operations Officer, John Makin as Chief Information Security Officer and Sarah Burton as Head of HR.

Conferma Pay connects issuers to more than 700 travel management companies, all the major global distribution systems and more than 100 online booking tools. It is fully integrated with all the major card schemes and serves more than 50 banking partners, who issue Conferma Pay generated virtual cards in nearly 100 currencies.
