The limit, which can be increased in £5 increments, can be amended via online chat accessed either through the mobile banking app or online banking. The standard contactless limit is £100.

Customers with a Mastercard debit or credit card can turn the contactless functionality off using their mobile app. A non-contactless card can also be requested.

It would be really interesting to know how many customers actually go in and change the contactless threshold. I fully agree with the increased risk of missuse/theft with cards becoming more valuable as the limit increases. If onlt there was a way to authenticate contactless card transactions..... with a fingerprint for example :-)
