VTB Digital Investments Fund acquires stake in big data outfit ADS-Holding

The ‘Digital Investments’ fund, a closed-end mutual investment fund under the management of VTB Group, has acquired a stake in ADS-Holding, a company which owns a controlling stake in Arenadata – developer of an enterprise data platform designed for collection and storage of big data.

The share of the fund is 26.33%, while the transaction amount is not disclosed.

The strategic goal of Arenadata is to support and develop open-source solutions in the field of big data.

Vadim Kulik, Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank, noted:

“The Arenadata team has extensive experience of turning open-source projects into ready-made corporate products. Today, there is growing demand in the global IT industry for such expertise, which is not yet widely available in Russia. In the Russian market over the past few years, Arenadata solutions have become a kind of industry standard which is always considered by large businesses when building corporate data platforms."

ADS-Holding is part of the IT Holding ‘GS Invest’, which is the controlling shareholder of the company. The holding specializes in system integration in the field of complex infrastructure solutions, software development, big data management platforms, and artificial intelligence systems, as well as in the creation of integrated solutions for the financial industry. Currently, Arenadata is actively working on entering foreign markets.

Vasily Belov, CEO of GS Invest, said:

“We plan to use investments from the transaction for further development of Arenadata EDP and complementary products. We are also focused on acquiring new product teams and building strategic alliances with companies that work with open-source solutions.”
