Global payments innovator Verrency today announced the appointment of international payments executive Jeroen van Son as Managing Director, Commercial, Australia & New Zealand.
In his role, Mr van Son will oversee all commercial, revenue generating and client-related activities across Australia and New Zealand, including client management, business development, and go-to-market strategies across various vertical markets.
Mr van Son brings more than two decades of senior experience in payments and financial services across Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. His most recent role was as the Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at Cred, a global fintech and consumer finance provider.
He has also served in senior roles at a number of blue chip global companies, including as GM Commercial at Virgin Australia / Velocity, Head of Financial Innovation APAC at PayPal, CEO Hong Kong & Macau at MasterCard, and GM Consumer Finance at Westpac.
“I am delighted to be joining Verrency at an extremely exciting time in the company’s development,” Mr van Son said. “I am convinced that Verrency’s approach to enabling banks, issuers and processors to rapidly innovate around the moment of payment is of strategic relevance and is resonating with the market. With a number of financial institutions around the world already on board, the market clearly agrees with this view.”
“I look forward to working closely with the Verrency team to deliver on our growth strategy, and deliver superior results for our clients.”
Verrency CEO David Link said Mr van Son would bring invaluable experience to Verrency’s growing team.
“I am very excited to welcome Jeroen to the Verrency team,” Mr Link said. “His extensive experience in payments and financial services, strong track record of developing foundational and enduring relationships, and leading high-performance teams make him a natural fit for what we are building at Verrency. As we bring our unique and award-winning technology to market, Jeroen will be an invaluable resource.”
Mr van Son joins an experienced executive team, including CEO David Link, who has three decades of experience in global payments as Managing Director in Accenture’s financial services practice, and Group CTO Euan Walker, who formerly served as a Head of Delivery, and Global Head of Testing at ANZ Bank.
This announcement comes as Verrency ramps up its international expansion, with agreements recently signed with Colombia’s Banco Davivienda, UAE-based Emirates NBD, and Australia’s Volt Bank, and advanced discussions underway with various other major financial institutions.
