In her new role, she will put her many years of banking experience to good use in getting as many Belgians as possible to adopt mobile payments. One of her goals is to launch a unique, unified payment app and make electronic and mobile payments easier than ever for both consumer and merchant.

The merger between Bancontact Company and Payconiq Belgium was announced at the end of March. We now also know who will head up the new company: Nathalie Vandepeute, until now Head of Product Management Daily Banking at BNP Paribas Fortis.

Bancontact Payconiq Company was created by five Belgian banks: AXA Bank, Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING and KBC. All five were also shareholders in Bancontact Company and, with the exception of AXA Bank, also of Payconiq Belgium. The Bancontact and Payconiq teams have been working together closely on the new project since the end of March. The merger has no effect on the company headcount and the new business will operate for the time being from offices in Brussels (Bancontact Company) and Hasselt (Payconiq Belgium).
