These security requirements were established by Visa International and MasterCard International to ensure that cardholder PINs are always handled securely at the PIN acceptance device and provide the highest level of security for payment transactions.

Ingenico is the first company with combination Online and Offline PCI PED approved handheld and countertop PIN pad products. Additionally, Ingenico is the first terminal supplier to have two PCI PED approved products in its range. These two PCI PED approved PIN-pads once again demonstrate Ingenico's commitment to design innovative and high security devices. Ingenico has more Visa and PCI PED approved products than any other terminal supplier.

"Ingenico continues to show their commitment to card payments security by delivering multiple PCI PED approved products," said Roger Swales, senior vice president, Global Acceptance and Operations, Visa International. "The success of programs such as PCI PED rests in large part on the support from vendors. Ingenico's successful efforts to make PCI-compliant devices available will enable Members and Processors to strengthen the protection of Cardholder PIN information."

Commenting these approvals, Simon Pugh, senior vice president, Infrastructure and Standards group, MasterCard International said: "As a world leading vendor with two PCI PED approvals for their combination smart card and magnetic stripe reading PIN pads, Ingenico has clearly demonstrated its support for the PCI PED program. MasterCard looks forward to many additional PCI PED approvals from vendors such as Ingenico."

The i3070 and i3380 are two new secure PIN pads that will be launched during the Cartes 2005 exhibition in Paris. Both may be easily connected to any Ingenico fixed payment terminal, cash registers or IP networks.

The i3070 is a cost effective and versatile PIN Pad that is ideal for use in retail and point-of-sale environments. It includes two card readers (magnetic stripe and smart card) and may be connected to a payment terminal, LAN or cash register through multiple connectivity options: RS232, USB or Power over Ethernet. It is a handheld device that allows the cardholder to easily operate the PIN-pad whilst retaining their card throughout the transaction.

The i3380 is a countertop PIN Pad that is an ideal addition to any major or independent retail environment. It includes a hybrid reader (magnetic stripe and smart card) enabling the cardholder to use the same gesture regardless of the technology of their card. This facilitates retailers' transition toward EMV standards during the period when they must process both card types without building up check-out queues. It may be connected to a payment terminal, LAN or cash register through multiple connectivity options: RS232, USB or Power over Ethernet. It is designed to ensure user friendliness with its large graphic display, function keys, backlit keypad and hybrid reader. Moreover the i3380 includes an optional privacy shield complying with all international security standards (ZKA, Interpay, BSK, etc.).
