Izettle arrives in Italy

IZettle, Europe’s leading mobile payments provider, today announces it has launched in Italy, meaning it is now present in 12 markets: the UK, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Finland, Mexico, Brazil and now Italy.

Small business make up the backbone of the Italian economy, more so than in most other European countries. iZettle will give these businesses the service they have been missing, enabling them to accept card payments for a fraction of the price.

The company will offer two products: iZettle Lite and iZettle Pro Contactless. iZettle Lite is a free device which connects via cable to smartphone and tablet. iZettle Pro Contactless connects via wireless and Bluetooth, and accepts payments from contactless cards and ApplePay. The starting price is €59 excluding VAT.

"Already present in eleven countries in Europe and Latin America, our goal is to become the undisputed leader of mobile payment in Italy” said Jacob de Geer, co-founder and CEO of iZettle.

"Despite a record increase of 55% in the mobile industry, today most small-medium entrepreneurs do not use payment devices because they are too expensive and binding. iZettle offers an easy and inexpensive way to increase their business by facilitating card payments."

Apart from the devices and apps that transform mobile phones and tablets registers cash, iZettle provides an alternative finance option called iZettle Advance. Interest rates do not apply, only a fixed fee established on precise criteria.
