Atos Worldline names Sameer Nemavarkar CEO, India

Atos Worldline, which brings together Atos Origin core expertise in hi-tech transactional services, today, announces the appointment of Sameer S Nemavarkar (40) as the new CEO for Atos Worldline in India (Venture Infotek Global Ltd.).

In his new role, he will report directly to Atos Worldline CEO Didier Dhennin.

Sameer S Nemavarkar succeeds the founders of Venture Infotek Global Ltd., Dhruv Khaitan and P.K. Khaitan, who were, respectively, Chairman and Managing Director, until the acquisition by Atos Origin in August 2010. The acquisition creates the leading payment processor in Europe and India by integrating Venture Infotek into Atos Worldline.

Sameer is appointed CEO of Atos Worldline in India with immediate effect. He will be responsible for further growing Atos Worldline's leading business in hi-tech transactional services in one of the world's most dynamic and fast growing markets. He will focus on the development of existing electronic payment activities, together with the introduction of innovative solutions based on Atos Worldline's extensive expertise to ensure Atos Worldline in India meets and exceeds emerging business demands to enter new markets and industries.

Sameer joins Atos Worldline from Axis Bank, one of India's leading financial institutions, which he joined in 2000 and where he was Senior Vice President and Head of Business - Retail Forex and Remittances.

Sameer has extensive experience in hi-tech transactional services and notably in payments, covering credit and debit cards, internet banking and e-commerce, retail banking, issuance and acquiring. At Axis Bank, he was notably responsible for growing the Forex business & inward remittances business across the retail franchise. Among other achievements, he expanded the card business from 10 to over 200 cities across India, while launching several products, including pre-paid cards and EMV chip debit cards.

Sameer also developed the merchant acquiring business for the bank with several innovations and firsts, including the introduction of GPRS terminals, PC PoS software, and Dynamic Currency Converter (DCC) program.

Sameer holds a degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University and has completed his Post Graduation in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM-L).
