Jefferies names Bajus head, international e-trading services, equities

Jefferies announced today the appointment of John Bajus as Head of International Electronic Trading Services within the firm's Equities Group.

In this new role, Mr. Bajus will be based in London and responsible for expanding Jefferies' international equities electronic trading products, including portfolio trading, algorithmic trading and direct market access.

Jefferies' Electronic Trading Services Group is comprised of approximately 30 professionals focused on innovative trading solutions for institutional clients. After releasing a completely new US algorithmic product nearly one year ago, the firm has built a global product offering, architected by Jatin Suryawanshi, Head of Global Quantitative Strategies, across 16 European countries, as well as Canada, Brazil and Mexico. Jefferies also plans to release a complete Asian offering by year end.

This appointment is the next step in the ongoing expansion of Jefferies' global sales and trading capabilities across equities and fixed income. The eq. The equities group, which is focused on the global sales, sales trading, trading and research of equity securities, consists of more than 650 professionals in the US, Europe and Asia.

Mr. Bajus joins Jefferies from UBS, where he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of Program and Cash Sales Trading for the Americas. Previously, he spent two years at State Street Global Markets, where he was a Managing Director in charge of institutional global portfolio sales and trading worldwide. He started his career at Bear Stearns, where he was a founding member of the Global Program Sales and Trading desk. He received a BA from Dartmouth College with a focus on international government.
