The application was granted by The European Patent Office on 28 July 2010 under number 1716005. The technology, already being used by major personalisation bureaus globally, will operate under the trade name of 'One Customer-One Card'.

One Customer-One Card (OC-OC) is a state-of-the-art, on-demand digital print technology that enables fast, low cost and highly flexible manufacturing for card runs of every size. With OC-OC, an unlimited number of designs can be run off at the same time and there are no minimum order requirements.

Crucially, on-demand digital print technology eliminates inventory, which takes the risk out of financial card production.

By creating an affinity with the cardholder, industry metrics derived from multiple Serverside-powered card programs show conclusively that customised imagery significantly increases the value of the card for the issuer. With OC-OC, this increase in the value of the card can now be achieved without increasing the costs of card production.

This latest patent follows a number of earlier Serverside patent grants in various international jurisdictions that protect its technology for enabling a cardholder to design a financial payment card via an online manipulation tool.

Serverside Group, the innovator in digital card customisation and production, continues to invest heavily in innovation and IP protection with a view to consolidating an already commanding position as a card customisation specialist, from digital card design, production and partner management right through the value chain to digital card manufacture on-demand.

This further European patent grant comes at a time when issuers globally continue to experience strong ROI on the back of card customisation programs, which blend seamlessly with the rapidly evolving online and mobile environments.
