As Americans seek new ways to manage and monitor personal spending habits in an increasingly uncertain economy, Green Sherpa today announced the public beta launch of its new web-based Personal Cash Flow Management (PCM) application for midcareer and other financially discerning individuals.
Green Sherpa's platform transcends existing products like Excel and Quicken through Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) functionality for universal web access, online collaboration, alerting and continuous upgrades.
As the first SaaS cash flow management application, Green Sherpa empowers individuals with features like goal setting and tracking; automated synchronization with banks, credit and asset accounts; and online collaboration with authenticated, trusted individuals using any computer, anywhere. Green Sherpa offers all the key services Microsoft Money or Intuit Quicken users expect such as multiple account registers, reconciliation, modifiable categories and classes, cash flow and reporting.
"Green Sherpa provides financial planning and spending solutions for an increasingly mobile world," said Masen Yaffee, chief executive officer of Green Sherpa. "The ability to access important financial information or make crucial financial decisions no matter where you are is increasingly in-demand, and Green Sherpa rises to fill that void."
Unlike other personal finance software providers who design their products for consumers in their 20's, Green Sherpa believes the most desirable -- and motivated -- customers for Web-based cash flow management services are people between the ages of 30 and 55 who already track their finances with Quicken or Excel.
Simple Data Upload for Financial History Tracking
Green Sherpa's ability to track historical expenses allows individuals to make educated predictions based on their spending habits. Automated data input functionality makes data transfer from an existing software solution simple; individuals can set up accounts manually or synch bank and other account information with Green Sherpa. Once data is uploaded, Green Sherpa will even auto-categorize certain types of data for the user.
Create a Financial Plan and Predict Spending Behavior
If the individual knows where he or she has spent historically, Green Sherpa's powerful analysis functionality can predict financial trends for the user's 12 month financial plan by projecting cash flow based on spending averages. Green Sherpa users can customize cash flow projections by adding punctuated and periodic expenses to create an accurate financial picture for the next 12 months.
Share and Discuss Financial Decisions
Green Sherpa users can invite spouses, financial planners, CPAs or other trusted individuals to access account information via secure logins and passwords. Green Sherpa users and designated trusted individuals can tag items and start threaded conversations to discuss them.
Green Sherpa will be available as a subscription-based service for $7.95 per month. A free 14-day trial is offered.
