The new release incorporates a number of significant innovations in the areas of disaster recovery, user productivity and collaboration.

IP Trade offers the first turret truly conceived for the IP world. The technology is powered by the world's most prevalent IP-PBX providers and is simply integrated into that environment, enabling trader choices to be driven by business needs rather than integration or implementation issues. Because the user interface is fully software-based, delivery of new trader functionality is fast and cost effective.

Major enhancements incorporated in Release 2 of the IP Trade software include:

  • Full support for Cisco Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) - providing continuity for turret users in remote sites in the event that connection is lost to the Cisco CallManager, for example if the network goes down. The use of Cisco SRST in conjunction with IP Trade ensures that traders in sites where there is no Cisco CallManager can still dial out and access private wires from their turret, with calls automatically redirected via local PSTN lines. IP Trade's approach is far more cost-effective than that of the legacy turret suppliers which require a local switch to be installed at each remote site to offer the same capabilities.
  • Ability to handle up to 24 concurrent calls - on a single, cost-effective turret device without the need for additional hardware modules, saving valuable space on the trading desk.
  • Toggle applet windows - allowing users to easily toggle between the applets displayed on the touchscreen interface, without the need for additional hardware. Traders can easily select and configure the applets they want - with popular applets including a calculator, dial pad, client shortcuts, speaker channels and video display. Other applets can be added quickly in response to user requests.
  • IP Trade Connect - enables turret users in a disaster recovery scenario or non-turret users, for example in the middle or back office, to access and share private wire connections on the trading floor using a standard IP phone or mobile device. IP Trade is unique in providing these users with support for up to two phone devices, including a Skype client. This means that users can listen to one line, whilst still using the other phone to participate in another private wire call.
  • Click-to-Call capability from any TAPI-compliant application - this allows users to call numbers more quickly from within an application such as Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Office Word, and avoid any keying errors.

"The innovations included in Release 2 are driven by the market in response to real-world trader requests. Without exception, our customers are excited by the potential our software offers them to easily customise applets and the layout of the turret to suit their specific needs," explains Neil Isaacson, head of products for IP Trade. "Because our software simply sits on top of our customers' existing IP networks it delivers the full scalability and flexibility that VoIP enables. Innovations such as support for Cisco SRST at remote sites without the need for a local switch, and the ability to rapidly customise a turret, are 'firsts' in the marketplace and very difficult for legacy suppliers to replicate without making costly and time-consuming changes to proprietary code."
