Bloomberg L.P., the leading global provider of business and financial news, data and analytics, today announced that it has opened a news bureau in Belfast, Northern Ireland - Bloomberg's third office in the U.K.
The Belfast bureau is the 18th new office that Bloomberg has opened across Europe, Africa and the Middle East during the past five years.
"The addition of a Belfast news bureau reflects Bloomberg's commitment to provide the most thorough real-time news and data to our customers around the world," according to Bloomberg's Reto Gregori. "With bureaus in London, Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin, Bloomberg is exceptionally well positioned to cover this region and to report on the recovery of the Northern Irish economy after decades of upheaval."
"Bloomberg's exceptional multimedia beat system, combined with our local-language news delivery across the globe, allows Bloomberg journalists to cover issues in depth and on site," said Chris Collins, Bloomberg's Managing Editor in Europe. "Our local-market presence gives Bloomberg a quality of reporting that is unequalled."
"Bloomberg's growing customer base in the U.K., Ireland and overseas demands that we cover all facets of the economic story even as many other news organizations reduce their coverage of various regions including Northern Ireland and Belfast," according to Collins.
During the past five years, Bloomberg has opened bureaus in Ankara, Bahrain, Belfast, Cairo, Cape Town, Dusseldorf, Kiev, Kuwait, Lagos, Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Nicosia, Riga, Riyadh, Sofia, St. Petersburg, Vilnius and Zagreb. Bloomberg now has 135 news locations worldwide.
