Recent data reveals that over one million driving licences were reported lost or stolen in a single year, leading to substantial replacement costs and inconvenience for citizens. Additionally, the introduction of mandatory voter ID laws has highlighted that approximately 3.5 million UK voters do not possess any form of photo ID, potentially hindering their ability to participate in democratic processes.

These issues are further exacerbated for vulnerable populations, such as the homeless and ex-offenders, who often face barriers to obtaining traditional forms of identification. As the need for proof of age becomes increasingly critical – especially with upcoming requirements for young people to verify their age and identity for social media access and other services – these barriers risk further exclusion.

By integrating Credas’s advanced identity verification technology, IDGO will ensure that all individuals, regardless of their circumstances, have access to reliable identification, facilitating their participation in voting, education, employment, and banking.

As a certified IDSP, Credas has been independently assessed to deliver the highest level of confidence in digital identity verification. By leveraging a combination of trusted third-party sources—including the HALO database, Amberhill, and the electoral roll—Credas ensures accurate and secure identity validation.

Dannii Hadaway, founder at IDGO, commented: “For too long, the lack of accessible and affordable identification has excluded people from fundamental aspects of life, from employment to voting and banking. With the growing need for proof of age, especially as young people will soon need to verify both their age and identity to access social media platforms, this issue has never been more pressing. At IDGO, we are on a mission to change that. Partnering with Credas enables us to enhance the security and trustworthiness of our ID solutions while keeping them affordable and inclusive. Together, we are not just verifying identities; we are empowering people with the means to fully participate in society.”

Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas, added: “At Credas, we believe that identity verification should be seamless, secure, and, most importantly, accessible to all. Our partnership with IDGO is a significant step towards breaking down barriers to identification, ensuring that individuals can access essential services without unnecessary hurdles. By combining our ID verification technology with IDGO’s commitment to inclusivity, we are driving positive change and making reliable identification more attainable for everyone in the UK.”

Looking to the future, IDGO is developing the UK’s first dual-sided ID and payment card, streamlining identification and financial transactions into a single, user-friendly solution.
