Founded in 2015 by Lewison Chen, PhotonPay provides global funds management services to businesses with its innovative core products, including Global Accounts, Card Issuing, Online Payments, Payouts, Foreign Exchange (FX) Management and Embedded Finance. It is committed to building a digital payment network to take the friction out of global payments and enhance operational efficiency for businesses operating on a global scale.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, PhotonPay provides global transaction coverage and operates eight offices worldwide, including in the UK, USA, China and Canada. Its solutions are entrusted by over 200,000 enterprises, with an annual transaction volume exceeding US$10 billion.

Thanks to Tribe, PhotonPay will now be able to issue cards to meet one of its primary objectives in satisfying the evolving needs of its customers in a dynamic market.

“We are thrilled to partner with Tribe,” said Chao Xu, Head of Product at PhotonPay. “This collaboration marks an important step for PhotonPay in expanding our global card issuing capabilities. By combining our respective strengths, we aim to deliver superior solutions that drive growth and enhance the customer experience for businesses worldwide.”

As a trusted payments solution provider, Tribe meets PhotonPay’s requirements for system flexibility, scalability and full customisation. Tribe’s developer-led APIs also enabled PhotonPay to launch a pilot within weeks, and Tribe is now one of its key partners for global deployment.

Jo Lawrence, Head of Customer Success at Tribe Payments, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with PhotonPay to introduce cards with multicurrency capabilities in Hong Kong. It’s a hugely exciting time for Tribe as we look to expand on our presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, and this new partnership perfectly highlights our shared ambitions with PhotonPay.”
The new partnership builds on Tribe’s growing footprint in APAC, following the recent opening of its Singapore office and appointment of payments industry veteran Matt Weir to lead operations in the region.
