This key hire comes on the back of CleverCards’ recent €8 million funding round, marking another significant milestone in the company’s ambitious growth and expansion strategy.

Brash is an award-winning fintech leader with over 30 years of experience, bringing a wealth of expertise in the payments and financial services sector to CleverCards. Originally from the UK, Brash has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of fintech, particularly in Europe.

Before joining CleverCards, Brash co-founded PPS, now Edenred Payment Solutions, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the company into a leading fintech service provider across Europe. Holding senior positions including CFO and CEO, he drove significant growth, launching successful platform integrations for major fintech firms like Revolut, Monese, TIDE and Virgin Money, formed a joint venture with Mastercard and successfully sold PPS to Edenred Plc where under Brash’s leadership his team designed and delivered highly innovative payment solutions for Meal Vouchers, Employee Benefits, Incentives, Virtual Supplier Payments, Payroll and Fuel Cards in over 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East and South America.

Brash’s extensive experience well positions him to drive CleverCards’ ambitious growth plans.

Kealan Lennon, CEO and founder of CleverCards, commented: “Bringing Ray on board as our Chief Operating Officer is a strategic move that highlights CleverCards’ commitment to scaling our platform and solidifying our leadership in the global digital payments space. Ray’s extensive industry experience and proven track record in driving growth and innovation make him the ideal leader to help us execute our vision and achieve the next level of success.”

On joining CleverCards, Ray Brash remarked:“I have long been an admirer of Kealan and the CleverCards business. Firstly, the team has built an unrivalled set of industry-leading and innovative payment technologies and secondly, and most important for me, the team is laser-focused on simple and intuitive business solutions addressing major payment issues for global businesses. I am excited to be able to work for a business which puts the customer first rather than just the technology.”

CleverCards’ B2B customers and cardholder base are driving expansion, due to market needs left unfulfilled by traditional financial institutions. CleverCards has experienced substantial growth since its official market launch in 2023, onboarding over 13,000 businesses directly with 450,000 users across 92 countries. The company’s configurable digital payments platform enables businesses and public sector organisations to open IBAN’s and configure and send digital Mastercards to anyone, anywhere, anytime, instantly, in multiple currencies, further positioning CleverCards as a global leader in digital payments.
