Standard Chartered shakes up transaction banking leadership team

Standard Chartered announced today, the appointment of Sofia Hammoucha as Global Head of Trade & Working Capital based in Singapore.

Sofia succeeds Kai Fehr, who has decided to move back to his home country, Germany, to spend more time with his family.

The Bank also announced the appointment of Ankur Kanwar as Head of Transaction Banking, Singapore and ASEAN, based in Singapore and Marion Reuter as Head of Transaction Banking, Europe and Head of Transaction Banking, Standard Chartered Bank AG based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Ankur takes over the leadership of the Transaction Banking team in Singapore from Maisie Chong who will continue in her role as Global Head of Receivables Purchase and Head of Trade and Working Capital for ASEAN and South Asia (ASA). Marion succeeds Karin Flinspach, who has decided to leave the bank.

Commenting on the appointments, Michael Spiegel, Global Head of Transaction Banking, said: “We’re pleased to appoint three prominent internal talents to be part of our Transaction Banking leadership team. Sofia, Marion and Ankur bring deep experience and understanding of our clients and our network, which will be instrumental as we continue building our product capabilities and deepening our corporate and institutional client relationships.”

Sofia joined Standard Chartered in 2022 as Head of Risk for Transaction Banking. Before joining Standard Chartered, Sofia spent 22 years at BNP Paribas holding several roles spanning Risk management, internal audit, business development, strategy, leadership and change management in Europe and Asia Pacific. In her last role with BNP Paribas, she was Head of Transaction Banking for ASEAN.

In addition to this appointment, Ankur will continue in his existing roles as Global Head of Cash Structured Solutions Development and Head of Cash Management for Singapore & ASEAN. Since joining Standard Chartered in 2015, Ankur has been instrumental in launching several innovative digital solutions and worked extensively with the Bank’s clients to streamline their cash and treasury management operations. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Ankur worked for JP Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank. He has been in the industry for more than 20 years holding several roles in Transaction Banking, Treasury and Finance across Asia and the USA.

In addition to this appointment, Marion will continue in her role as Head of Transaction Banking Corporate Sales in Europe based in Frankfurt. Marion has more than 20 years of experience in the Transaction Banking industry and has held several senior Transaction Banking positions across product management, sales and solutions development. Before joining Standard Chartered in 2013, Marion worked for Deutsche Bank in Germany and Switzerland.
