The Laboratório de Inovações Financeiras e Tecnológicas (LIFT), a joint initiative of Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) and Federação Nacional de Associações dos Servidores do Banco Central (Fenasbac), announces the resumption of activities following a hiatus in 2023.
Since its inception in 2018, the laboratory has been at the forefront of innovation within the Brazilian National Financial System (SFN), focusing on developing technological prototypes. The 2023/2024 edition will feature seven projects to enhance the financial innovation ecosystem. These projects include:
Preventive AML and Compliance: technological solutions for anti-money laundering and compliance.
Interoperability Gateway: B2B interoperability solution that operates between incompatible blockchain networks.
GreenFi Decentralized Finance for Sustainability: solution to establish a decentralized financial ecosystem for tokenized green assets.
Blockchain-based KYC for Credit Rating: solution focused on building a decentralized network for appraising and granting credit, aligned with Open Finance principles.
PIX Alias Score: developing a score for the Pix instant payments system, monitoring safe zones, and identifying fake accounts.
SmartSafe: programmable, secure, and intuitive digital wallet solution for storing crypto assets.
Guaranteed Agribusiness Token - TAG: asset tokenization for agribusiness.
LIFT in Figures
LIFT Lab celebrates six years of technological innovations this year, yielding significant impacts. A total of 256 project proposals have been submitted to LIFT Lab, with 82 projects selected. Of the 68 finalists, 36% received funding from the private sector during or shortly after the acceleration, amounting to over R$400 million.
LIFT operates as a collaborative virtual environment that brings together academia, the market, technology companies, and fintechs. It is supported by technology companies such as AWS, Cielo, Finansystech, Idwall, Microsoft, Multiledgers, R3, and Veritran.
Next Steps
Starting in July, the LIFT Lab schedule features crucial milestones. Follow-up and project delivery meetings will occur, culminating in the final delivery event (LIFT Day) and the report with the published articles (LIFT Papers).
