As Chief Technology Officer, Suavek will lead the development of Tandem’s digital offering, spearheading a team of high calibre engineers towards building scalable systems to support Tandem’s green mission of making it easier for people to choose a greener lifestyle. Suavek joins Tandem with almost 25 years’ experience in tech, rising through the ranks from developer to enterprise architect to CTO, driving transformative growth at companies like Grand Parade, William Hill, Blackberry and, most recently, Railsr.

Alex Mollart, CEO, commented: “Welcoming Suavek as our new CTO marks a pivotal moment in Tandem’s digital journey. With a proven track record of scaling companies and developing innovative platforms to solve real world problems, his skills will be instrumental as we develop our offering to customers looking to live a more sustainable lifestyle. His blend of technical expertise and creative vision will be key ingredients in strengthening our position as both a fintech leader and pioneer in green banking.”

Commenting on his appointment, Suavek Zajac said: "As Tandem’s new CTO, I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into the buzzing and rapidly growing green finance sector. As the UK transitions towards a net zero economy, companies like Tandem have a huge role to play in getting consumers over the line on green issues on time. One huge component of that mission lies in our ability to leverage cutting edge financial tech to ensure that switching to a greener lifestyle is not only affordable but as easy and user-friendly as possible.”

The appointment follows a significant transformation for the bank over the last two years, which has seen it breaking into profit as well as substantial growth in customers, lending and deposits — including more than doubling its deposit base to over £3.6bn for a second consecutive year. Tandem is due to report its annual report and accounts for 2023 in the coming weeks.

Benefiting customers’ pockets and the planet, Tandem offers greener ways to save, borrow, spend and share. From low emission motor loans, to lending for greener home improvements, to EPC discount mortgages and green savings, its products make it easier for more people to choose a greener lifestyle - helping save money, whilst reducing carbon footprints.
