Thierry Dubernay, chief operating officer, Al Bank Al Saudi Al Fransi says the bank was initially looking for a teller system but broadened the scope of the project to incorporate channel unification. Getronics' Globalfs solutions facilitate the re-use of business processes and software components across multiple channels.

Says Dubernay: "Getronics helped us realise that the teller line could be the starting point for pulling together our retail banking operations. As a result, we have expanded the scope of project to include branch sales and our Internet banking channels."

Al Bank Al Saudi Al Fransi's branch automation system is scheduled to go live in early 2001. The bank intends to introduce its new Globalfs Internet banking site to customers soon after.

Getronics has also been contracted to provide project management, custom programming, business analysis, staging and deployment support. Getronics is also a supplier of network integration services to the bank.

Al Bank Al Saudi Al Fransi is a joint venture between Credit Agricole Indosuez and local interests. It was the first bank in the Kingdom to establish a presence on the Web.
