In his new role, Rayner is responsible for the logistical operation of Computershare's European and South African businesses, with a particular focus on service delivery to the company’s existing registry, employee plans and related businesses.

Rayner will report to Robert Chapman, another former EDS man who was appointed managing director Computershare Europe in May, filling a position vacated by one-time Crestco head Iain Saville.

Says Rayner: "Over the next three to five years, we can expect to see significant new business opportunities in the financial services sector as interest in both traditional IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing increases and the Basel II Accords come into play."
